In the fall of 2018, Leighton Art Centre hosted 30 artists from Indefinite Arts Centre (recently rebranded as the National accessArts Centre) in Calgary for a residency program in our historic studios. Celebrating freedom of expression inspired by the natural environment and the site’s history, artists worked with both Leighton Art Centre and Indefinite Arts Centre instructors toward a goal of creating stunning new pieces.
The resulting artworks were shown in our gallery in January and February 2019, in an exhibition titled Pushing Boundaries With Art, Nature and History. We were thrilled to welcome many of the program’s participants during the opening reception on January 12, 2019.
This program and the video created about the experience were made possible with funding from the Rozsa Foundation.
