Artist Opportunities

Leighton Art Centre is situated on 80 acres in the Alberta foothills south of Calgary. We operate a museum and galleries in the historic home of Barbara and A.C. Leighton – two influential artists in Alberta from the early 1900s to the 1980s.

We recognize that the land on which the Leighton Art Centre is situated has a deep history within the traditional Treaty 7 territory. As a way forward in reconciling our relationship with Indigenous Peoples of Canada, we acknowledge the traditional territories and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy which consists of the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. We appreciate all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 territory of Southern Alberta and who celebrate this land, where we learn and create together in meaningful ways.

Selected artists commit to submitting images and details for each piece through a digital form, then bring their pieces in to the Gallery Shop approximately one week before their display will be installed by LAC staff.
