In her debut solo exhibition Threaded Through Paint, Calgary watercolourist Brittney Tough celebrates the mundane through her glowing and meticulously rendered paintings of textiles. Fascinated by capturing fleeting moments of exaggerated light, colour and pattern, Tough’s contemporary approach to watercolour has created a body a work that is vibrant, photorealistic and brimming with nostalgia. Presented in the Tower Gallery.
LAC is a poignant location for my inaugural solo show, as it reflects the marriage of a watercolour and textile artist, A.C & Barbara Leighton, of which the centre’s history was built. – Brittney Tough
Opening Reception: Saturday June 16, 2018 at 2-4 pm. Reception will celebrate the launch of this and of Bison bison bison (presented in Leighton Art Centre’s Main Gallery).
This is a public event – invite your friends and family! Admission to Leighton Art Centre is always Pay-What-You-Can.
