Parent and Child Broom-MakingWith David Campbell
August 8 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Accompanied by a parent (or guardian), children ages 12 and up can learn how to make their own heritage broom, employing broom-making techniques first used over 200 years ago.
No nails, no screws, no wire, just hardwood handles, twine, and tightly woven broom corn go into creating these fully functional pieces of folk art. Whether making a flying (Harry Potter) broom, hearth broom, or floor broom, kids have the satisfaction of knowing that, once completed, their broom is something they made themselves (with the help and guidance of a parent, of course!).
Join Foothills broom-maker David Campbell as he leads three parent/child teams through the stages of broom construction, from start to finish. Because parents will be involved full time helping their children, each two-person team will complete one broom each.
Audience: Children ages 12 and up with an adult, please. No experience required!
Supplies: All supplies included. Please bring your own lunch, water, and a face mask (optional)!
Registration cost: Parent + Child = $140 + GST & Eventbrite Fees*
