Lisa Brawn, Calgary artist, has developed a herd of eight coin-operated mechanical horses into a solar powered sculptural installation. The horses, who have spent their days in front of Calgary stores such as Woolworths and Woodwards in the 1950s and 60s, have been given a new lease on life as they have been rewilded by their maker and freed from six decades worth of paint.
The horses will be released onto the Leighton Art Centre’s 80 acre property in celebration of Alberta Culture Days on Saturday October 1st. Don’t miss your opportunity to experience this kinetic installation and enjoy the new found freedom of this very unique herd.
