Presented as part of Historic Calgary Week, in partnership with the Chinook Historical Society.
Join a member of Leighton Art Centre Art & Nature Education Team for a guided exploration of this historic rural art centre’s galleries, museum, and 80-acre foothills property, learning about Barbara and A.C. Leighton’s extensive influence on Alberta’s art scene, through their own art and their many connections with peers and students. You’ll experience both contemporary and historical art, curated with an emphasis on collaboration and diverse influences. Learn more about the evolution of the long-held dichotomy between “fine art” and craft, as you’re invited to reconsider the interconnectedness of creative communities in Alberta. Enjoy one of the best views in SW Alberta’s foothills!
If the weather is reasonable, we will spend some time outside in the beautiful grasslands landscape; please come prepared for the weather and wear comfortable footwear.
This event is free; in-person or CanadaHelps donations are greatly appreciated. Pre-registration is required.
Important note: no smoking or dogs on Leighton Art Centre property.
