Juried Members Exhibition

Our annual Juried Member Exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the talent and creativity of Leighton Art Centre’s member artists! Each artist may submit artwork from any artistic genre, including but not limited to painting, drawing, writing, sculpture, ceramics, metalwork, textiles, woodwork, glass, photography, and performance. Submissions will be considered for selection by a panel of jurors. New for 2026, we are asking artists to submit work relating to a specific theme:

Rooted: Juried Members Exhibition

February 3, 2026April 6, 2026

For the 24th annual Juried Members Exhibition, artists are invited to explore their connection to the land through works that honour the quiet power, resilience, and beauty found in the natural world. The theme for the 2026 annual Juried Members Exhibition is ‘Rooted.’ By exploring a common theme this year, we hope to foster a sense of connection – between artists, their works, and the land we share. Whether depicting actual terrains or abstract impressions of flora, soil, and stone, artists are encouraged to reflect on:
  • The physical landscape: landforms, textures, or topographies
  • The emotional terrain: memories, identity, or ancestral ties to land
  • The natural world’s patterns: seasonal cycles, growth, decay, and renewal
  • The relationship between human and habitat: stewardship, belonging, or transformation
‘Rooted’ invites reflection on what grounds us, literally and metaphorically. Artists should submit works that carry deep echoes of place, of memory, and of our shared home on this land.
