Barbara made linoleum and woodcut block prints of A.C.’s original paintings to earn extra income. She chose the name “Barleigh” for her prints, and labelled each print “Block print from the original painting by A.C. Leighton cut and printed by Barleigh”. She was an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters, Etchers, and Engravers, and belonged to the Alberta Society of Artists.
