An Earth Day Experience: Blending Science & Art

with the Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre

April 20 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Description: Leighton Art Centre and the Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre invite you to join us in celebrating Earth Day 2024. This collaborative effort epitomizes the mutual values championed by our organizations, as we strive to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for our planet. Join us on April 20th, 2024 to delve into the combination of art, science, and nature through our interactive workshops.

This will be a fun morning of exploring the land and creating art from it. Find a deeper connection to the land we reside on with biologist Larry who will lead a guided walk/ scavenger hunt about the flora and fauna. Working with items found on the scavenger hunt. Professional artist Crystal Salamon will demonstrate/ guide how to make some sustainable, homemade substances such as inks from berry and vegetable juices, and coffee. Inks made during the lesson will be used to make a piece of art to take home whether it be a painting, drawing or a composed essay or poem inspired by the hunt.

*Please note that the fee for this workshop includes admittance to our historic museum, walking paths and art gallery on the property, which can be enjoyed at your own discretion after the workshop is completed.
