Light Up Solstice

Description: Join artist and facilitator Andrea Merredew on Saturday, December 20, for a heartwarming, land-based art experience to celebrate the magic of the season. After wandering the Leighton property and tuning into the land, we’ll retreat into the cozy studio to enjoy seasonal treats and tea while creating a natural sculpture to honour the solstice. Using found and foraged materials, we’ll explore intuitive design, texture, and symbolism to craft a piece that reflects the quiet beauty and deep meaning of this time of year. This workshop is 3 hours in duration, from 12 pm to 3 pm.

Artist/ Instructor Biography: Andrea Merredew is a Calgary artist and facilitator. She believe that art matters and it has the power to transform people’s lives and help protect the earth. She has been involved with social and environmental justice work for the past 25 years and in 2009, she started Springwood Studio to support the health of communities and the earth through land-based programming for children, teens and adults.
